Alan Hansen, the renowned former footballer and BBC television football pundit, is seriously ill in hospital, according to an announcement made by his former club, Liverpool FC. The 68-year-old defender, who played for the Merseyside club from 1977 to 1991, is regarded as one of the greatest Scottish players of all time. Hansen, who made 620 appearances for Liverpool, was a key figure in the club's success during the 1980s, winning eight First Division titles, three European Cups, and the FA Cup twice.
