WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Freed from Prison, on His Way Back to Australia
Assange to Plead Guilty to Espionage Law Violation in Deal Ending Long-Running Case
Plane Carrying Assange Reported to Be the Same Jet Used by Taylor Swift
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been released from a British prison after a lengthy legal battle and is currently making his way back to his home country of Australia. Assange is being accompanied by Australia's High Commissioner to the UK, Stephen Smith, as he travels to the Mariana Islands.
Assange is expected to plead guilty on Wednesday to violating US Espionage law, in a deal that will bring an end to his protracted legal case. The WikiLeaks founder has been imprisoned in the UK since 2019, after being arrested on a US extradition request.
Eagle-eyed plane spotters at the ABC have noted that the jet carrying Assange appears to be the same aircraft that recently transported Taylor Swift to Australia. The Embraer Legacy 650 jet is reportedly owned by a private charter company.
