The defections came after Biden held a news conference Thursday evening, which was seen as a key event in a monumental week for his campaign as he fends off calls for him to withdraw.

"I'm gonna win," Biden vowed at a campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan, as the crowd chanted. "We're gonna win."

However, the president's promise to win appeared to fall on deaf ears as more and more Democrats publicly expressed their concerns about his ability to defeat President Donald Trump in the general election.
