Only Murders in the Building Helps Pasek and Paul Complete EGOT Status

On Monday night, songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul accomplished the rare feat of winning all four major entertainment awards (EGOT) when they won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the song "Saved by the Bell (30 Rock Theme)" from the Hulu comedy series Only Murders in the Building.

Pasek and Paul have previously won an Oscar for Best Original Song for "City of Stars" from the film La La Land (2016), a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for Dear Evan Hansen (2017), and a Tony Award for Best Original Score for Dear Evan Hansen (2017).

EGOT Winners

With their Emmy win, Pasek and Paul join an exclusive club of EGOT winners, which includes only 17 other people. Some of the most notable EGOT winners include Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mel Brooks.
